Tyler County Schools Conduct Reunification Drill

Tyler County Schools, in partnership with local emergency response agencies, conducted a planned Reunification Functional Exercise on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The exercise is designed to test and improve procedures used to safely reunite students with parents or guardians during an emergency situation.
The exercise is part of Tyler County Schools’ ongoing collaborative school safety efforts involving local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, emergency management, public health agencies, school personnel, and community partners. The drill follows previous active intruder and emergency response training exercises conducted throughout the county.
The exercise consisted of safely connecting students with parents following any emergency situation that occurs at their school. A supervised reunification simulation utilizing the I Love U Guys Foundation Standard Reunification Method was followed during the drill.
“This exercise allows us to strengthen our coordination and ensure we are prepared to safely reunify students with their families during an emergency,” Tyler County Schools officials stated. “The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.”

Tyler County Schools and First Responders thank the community for its patience, cooperation, and continued support as agencies work together to enhance emergency preparedness throughout the county.
