Middlebourne Parks & Recreation has announced plans for a special Independence Day celebration, “Middlebourne Celebrates America 250,” to be held on Saturday, July 4, throughout Downtown Middlebourne, the Main Street Gazebo, Tyler County Museum, and the Stealey Green Family Center.

The event will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, bringing together residents, families, and visitors for a full day of patriotic celebration, hometown pride, and community fellowship. The goal is to honor America’s history while celebrating the spirit and traditions that make small-town communities like Middlebourne special.

A featured attraction of the day will be a patriotic parade down Main Street Middlebourne, inviting participation from community organizations, youth groups, veterans, first responders, businesses, and creative red, white, and blue themed entries. The parade is expected to serve as the centerpiece of the celebration and a tribute to both local pride and national heritage.

Following the parade, car enthusiasts and spectators are invited to enjoy a ‘Cruise In’ hosted by the Main Street Cruisers at the Stealey Green Family Center. The ‘Cruise In’ will showcase classic cars, custom vehicles, and community pride, with the first 50 registered vehicles receiving commemorative dash plaques.

Another highlight will be the Community 4th of July Picnic at the Stealey Green Family Center. Families and guests can enjoy the feel of a traditional summertime picnic with classic favorites such as burgers, hotdogs, watermelon, chips, and other picnic-style refreshments in a welcoming community setting. Organizers hope the picnic will provide an opportunity for neighbors, friends, and visitors to gather together and celebrate the holiday.

“This is a once-in-a-generation milestone,” said event organizers. “We want this celebration to bring our community together and create memories for families while honoring the history of our nation and the values that unite us.”

Organizers emphasized that this announcement serves as an early preview of the event, with planning currently underway. Additional activities are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, including children’s games, entertainment, historical elements, contests, and more family-friendly fun.
