The Upper Ohio Conservation District to Host Pasture Weed Management Workshop

By Staff | Apr 22, 2026

The Upper Ohio Conservation District will host a Pasture Weed Management Workshop on Saturday, May 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Mollohan Center located at the Wetzel County 4-H Grounds. The event will provide local farmers and landowners practical tools and information to help control weeds and invasive species in pasture.

Bruce Loyd, a West Virginia University Extension Specialist, will lead a session on identifying and controlling common pasture weeds and invasive plants, with an emphasis on real-world management strategies.

In addition, participants will hear from Josh Poling of Mountain Sky Drones, who will discuss how drone technology is being used in agriculture, including applications for pasture spraying and seeding. The program will include a live drone demonstration, giving attendees the opportunity to see this technology in action under field conditions.

The event will begin with registration at 9:45 a.m., followed by the educational sessions, a mid-morning break with refreshments, and time for questions and discussion. Door prizes will also be available for participants.

The workshop is open to the public, and anyone with an interest is encouraged to attend. Participants are asked to RSVP in advance to assist with planning.
