Main Street Cruisers Hosts First Annual “Family for Families” Car Show

By Staff | Aug 22, 2025

Shiny chrome, revving engines, and a whole lot of heart took over Sistersville City Park this past Sunday, August 3, as the Main Street Cruisers Car Club held their first-ever Family for Families car show, a new event aimed at raising funds for a local family in need.

The event drew dozens of classic and custom cars, along with spectators from across the region. According to club member Rick Doty, the show raised $2,950, all of which will go to support a local family facing hardship.

“This was our first time holding a car show specifically to help a family in need, and we’re proud of what the community came together to accomplish,” said Doty. “We’re planning to make this an annual event.”

The Main Street Cruisers Car Club was founded in 2022 by Doug and Trisha Long after several years of hosting informal car shows and cruise-ins. The growing enthusiasm among local car lovers led to the formation of the club, which became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2023. Today, it has 25 active members dedicated to community involvement and charitable giving.

Each May, the club hosts a major car show at Tyler Consolidated High School, with all proceeds supporting causes in Tyler and Wetzel counties. In 2024, donations went to local animal shelters; this year, the club supported local American Legions.

In addition to organizing events, the club regularly travels as a group to attend other car shows across the region, sharing their passion for vintage and custom vehicles.

Two more Main Street Cruisers events are scheduled for August. The first is Grub N Gearz Car Show on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old Tyler High School in Middlebourne. The event will feature Big T’s Grub Wagon, inflatables for kids, vendors, and, of course, a wide variety of cars. Followed by the Labor Day Car Show at Valley Church on Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Paden City. This event coincides with Paden’s Labor Day celebration, and all proceeds will benefit the Valley Church Food Pantry.

The club is currently recruiting new members. Anyone interested in joining can reach out via their Facebook page, Main Street Cruisers, or email mscruisers@yahoo.com.

From weekend cruise-ins to major charity events, the Main Street Cruisers are proving that great things happen when community and classic cars come together.
