Wetzel Circuit Court Includes Drug, Fraud Hearings

By Shelley Hanson - Staff Writer | Jul 30, 2025

Wetzel County Circuit Court Judge Richard Wilson presided over the following criminal hearings regarding drugs and fraud on July 25.

Wilson sentenced Kayla Amanda Quinn of Sistersville to three years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to one count of fraudulent use of an access device. As part of the plea agreement, Quinn must pay restitution in the amount of $495.50. She must also pay court costs and fees. Wetzel County Assistant Prosecutor Justin Craft said the state was not seeking to fine Quinn. As part of the plea, 17 other counts of fraudulent use of an access device were dismissed. Wilson sentenced Curtis Lee Williams of Sistersville to three years of supervised probation in lieu of a prison sentence of 1-3 years. He will also be entering adult drug court. A probation officer said Williams had been doing very well during his supervised bond period. His attorney, Curry, noted a year ago he was concerned about Williams’ future, but now he is doing well.

Wilson encouraged Williams to take advantage of all the tools the drug court program has to offer, especially during harder times; for example, dealing with the anniversary of a loved one’s death.

“Drug court isn’t easy, but there are a compilation of professionals there for the asking,” he said.

Wilson ordered a pre-sentence investigation be conducted for Shasta Nicole Jones, 28, of Sistersville, who pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin. Craft said if the case had gone to trial the state’s evidence would have shown that during a traffic stop Jones and another person had 4.5 bricks of heroin inside the vehicle, and that Jones had one brick hidden in her clothing. There were also messages regarding Jones traveling to Pittsburgh to get the drugs and resell it. As part of the plea agreement, five other counts were dismissed.
