WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital is gearing up to open its new coffee shop – Wake Up, Wetzel – in New Martinsville.

The facility is following the lead of its sister hospital, WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, that opened a coffee shop in its main entry a few years ago. Much like the Wheeling facility, the shop will be frequented not just by visitors to the hospital, but its employees as well.

The new shop will serve Starbucks coffee. The grand opening is slated for Aug. 4. Its regular hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

The hospital recently held a contest asking people to submit potential names for the shop. The winner was promised one free drink per month for a year.

Meanwhile, the hospital also recently posted on its social media that it is looking to hire new employees for a variety of positions within the facility.

Some of the positions include radiation technologists, nurses for the emergency department, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, phlebotomy technicians, inpatient pharmacists and more.
