Local eatery The Fort will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants in early April 2025.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on April 7. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Samantha Titus about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

Originally known as The Station, The Fort is the area’s longest-running pizzeria. Titus’ parents, Patrick and Teresa Collins, took over the popular eatery in 2006, and Titus took the helm in 2021 after working at the restaurant for most of her life.

The Fort’s menu offers a variety of sandwiches, including calzones, toasted sups and wraps; appetizers, wings and salads; and build-your-own, classic or artisan pizzas, made with house-made dough, sauce, freshly grated cheese and hand-tossed. Varieties include The Cowgirl (vegetable), Cheeseburger Deluxe, or Southwest Chicken.

Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include the Mountain Berry salad – which is also available as a pizza – and the pepperoni rolls, a true West Virginia specialty.

The Fort is a pillar in the community of Sistersville, hosting gatherings, special events and benefits for community projects. Titus may also highlight her employees in the episode, as she is quick to compliment them as key to running a successful business.

“I couldn’t do any of this without my staff. They are just great,” she says. “I actually have a couple that were some of my parents’ employees and are now my employees. They’re more like family; they look out for me.”

There is a second location of The Fort at 25243 Shortline Highway in Smithfield.

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Monday April 7th from 2 pm to 5 pm EST. The press is invited to attend. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website.
