SHS Alumni Holding Fundraiser

WVU themed bean bag toss boards.

Once again, the Sistersville High School Alumni Association is hard at work cultivating resources to generate funds needed to continue their festivities year after year. Most members of the community will tell you the SHS Alumni celebration is their favorite time of year, and the Memorial Day holiday would not be the same without it.

It was back in 1931 when Roy C. Heinlein first began a lasting tradition serving as president of the Sistersville Alumni Association for 11 years. Under his leadership the alumni association established itself as a cornerstone of community pride and connection.

Then in the 1949-1950 school year the first “themed” alumni celebration was named, marking the golden anniversary of Sistersville High School, which was built in 1899. That milestone event set the tone for future reunions, creating a sense of shared history and tradition among all SHS alumni.

Yet this wonderful tradition cannot continue without the constant efforts of the officers and the advisory board generating the funds needed to offset the costs of venue rental, decorations, mailings, luncheon, reception and dance expenses.

This year the Alumni Association will be raffling off a YETI Roadie 60 Wheeled Cooler filled with $200 Cash. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. Also, back by popular demand and being raffled, a WVU themed bean bag toss board set. Ticket prices are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. (Boards handmade by Chip Hendricks ’91) All alumni officers will have tickets available for pre-sales, and tickets will be available for purchase at all Alumni events. Tickets are also available at Bell Chevrolet where the cooler and corn hole boards are on display. Winners will be drawn at the dance, and you don’t have to be present to win.

The association’s long history reflects the enduring spirit of Sistersville and its alumni as the tradition carries on. It stands as a testament to the dedication and pride of those who have passed through the hallowed halls of dear SHS.
