The Tyler County Sheriff’s Department held its Shop With A Cop Christmas Party on Dec. 21 for children who participated in picking out toys and gifts during the shopping event at the Moundsville Walmart.

The children and families were treated to hot cocoa, snacks and more during the event held in the Log Cabin building at the 4-H fairgrounds. The children were given the sacks of toys they picked out. They could open them during the event or take them home to place them under the tree to open on Christmas morning.

“Great seeing all the smiling happy faces tonight as we handed out the gifts to the kids,” organizers said on the department’s social media. “Thanks again to everyone who donated to this program this year. We couldn’t continue this event from year to year without the citizen and business support year in and year out

“Thanks to our partnering first responders for helping out tonight so officers were free to interact with the kids and help carry packages to the cars.”
