Ladies and Gentlemen let me remind you that Alumni weekend is almost here. After two years due to the virus, it is back and promises to be bigger and better. I am hearing that many are having the best time decorating their floats .
I love this time of year in Sistersville. Time to remember the old and new, the good and the bad . Time to see old friends and put on the colors of orange and black..
The City of Sistersville will once again be invaded with Tigers and as you will hear throughout the weekend…. â Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger.ã It has been that way for years and a true Tiger will tell you that their blood still runs orange and black.
A wonderful part of Alumni is Chapel. We get to listen to some things that bring back so many memories. .
The parade is a very special event . The floats that were worked on with blood sweat and tears to be presented on Saturday and judged also. Of course donát forget the Alumni band. What a blessing to see and hear the band and the Sistersville High School fight song and oh what a thrill to meet in the middle of town to hear oooga booga.
A good reason to celebrate Alumni is as we all know that life goes by like a whirlwind. We are graduating high school and one day look in the mirror and wonder when we grew older. We put off doing things and soon we have missed out on life. The same is true for Alumni…. We always say….Iáll go next year and for so many next year never gets here. For many of our Alumni ( during Chapel ) they have graduated to be with other Alumni in Heaven.
Alumni is a time to make memories and share old ones. We now share who had a crush on who and who dated who and some wonder why they never got around to asking that special someone out. The talk comes to remembering that favorite teacher and as the one who was not your favorite. we talk about who got caught sneaking out of school and who got caught smoking. We talk about prom, dates, dances confessions.
Next weekend I invite you to downtown Sistersville where you will see a sea of orange. Where you will be taken back to your school days where your memories were made .Also to hear the best band in the land.
The Sistersville Tigers were great and to me , I do believe our dedication to this school and all that it stood for will be loved forever as long as we have breath in our bodies.
My hope is that you will have a happy and safe weekend and that we pause to remember the Alumni that have passed away.
Welcome to Sistersville where you are in Tiger Country.
I hope you are enjoying these warm days as much as I have been. The gardens are looking good and I am thankful.

The thought for the week is………………………….Life began in the Garden of Eden, where sin was born, but eternal life began in the Garden of Gethsemane, the garden of suffering for Jesus, who agonized over what was to come, yet out of love for us offered His body on the cross.
The Bible is the story of two gardens, Eden and Gethsemane. In the first, Adam took a fall. In the second, Jesus took a Stand…..Max Lacado
