Knights basketball bow to Blue Eagles

By Staff | Jan 6, 2010

Tyler Consolidated’s Silver Knights traveled to New Martinsville on Dec. 29 to take on the Magnolia Blue Eagles, but returned home without the win as the Big Blue handled the Silver to the tune of 81-49.

The Knights got off to a slow start, trailing 22-4 after the first period of play. In the second stanza, the Silver and Black added more points on the scoreboard, but so did the Eagles putting the half-time score at 45-25 with New Martinsville in the lead. Unable to play enough catch-up,

Consolidated finally ended the game at a loss, 81-49.

Senior Aaron Estep led all Knight scorers in the game with 12 points, including three three-pointers.

Zach Minger scored 10 points; Alex Jones, nine; Dustin Snider had six; Zach Knowlton, five; Cory Lowe, three; and Boone Kehrer and B.J. Eastham scored two points apiece.

Inclement weather has caused the cancellation and/or postponement of many local games. Hopefully, scheduled games will be played this week.

The Silver Knights will play at home on Saturday, hosting the Golden Bears of Oak Glen. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
