By Staff | Dec 30, 2009

Tyler Consolidated’s Knight basketball teams are looking to add to their win columns, with the girls chalking up their first win on Monday, and the boys hoping to do so later in the week

Both the boys and girls Tyler Consolidated High School basketball teams played on Dec. 23 with each falling to their opponents.

At St. Marys the Silver Knights faced off with the Blue Devils, but came out on the short end of the 71-63 score.

Consolidated got off to a good start in the game, leading the game 26-25 at the half. Both teams played a strong third quarter and then St. Marys came out shooting in the fourth and took a 34-24 lead to get the win in the final minutes.

Senior Dustin Snider was the leading scorer for the Silver with a season high 26 points including two three-pointers.

Zach Minger scored 15, Alex Jones had 10 points and Cory Lowe, eight. Aaron Estep and Boone Kehrer scored two points each in the contest.

The loss keeps the Knights winless in five games thus far this season.

The Lady Knights welcomed a Parkersburg team to the home court trying to get their first win of the season, but the Parkersburg Catholic Lady Crusaders proved to be too able, taking the win 72-42.

It was a battle for the Ladies in Silver from the get-go as Parkersburg quickly lopsided the score 23-12 in the first stanza, and never looked back.

Junior Heather Suter led all Lady Knight scorers with 13 points. Tiffany Lohri scored nine; Lynsee Casteel, seven; Keri Suter, five; Sami Jones, four; and Christy Jones, four.

On Monday, the Lady Knights played host to Weir, and took the win in a hard fought game, 44-38.

Heather Suter led the Lady Knights with 17 points, followed by Keri Suter with seven; Casteel and Sami Jones, six each; Christy Jones, four; Lohri, three; and Maddi Schlabowski, one.

The Silver Knight boys will host Ravenswood at home on Jan. 2 and Doddridge on Jan. 4.

The Lady Knights will see action again on Jan. 5 when they host St. Marys.
