The Elks National Free Throw “Hoop Shoot” contest for all boys and girls ages 8-13 was held at the Sistersville James Willison Family Center on Dec. 13.

Ten shooters competed in the competition with six participants advancing to the next level of competition at the West Virginia Northern District Contest in Weirton on Jan. 23.

At the Sistersville competition, winners were: ages 8-9: Autumn Wells (1st, girls), Noah Swiger (1st, boys), Trey Swiger (2nd, boys); ages 10-11: Madison Lasick (1st, girls), Julianna Miller (2nd, girls), C.W. Harton (1st, boys); ages 12-13: Sophie Kinnard (1st, girls), Evan Davis (1st, boys), Chase Cornell (2nd, boys), and Argan Wells (3rd, boys).

First place finishers will now advance to district, and hopefully state, regional and national competitions. The national finals for the Hoop Shoot will be held in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 24.
