The Tyler County Commission met on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 in the auditorium of the senior center in Middlebourne. Following the approval of the minutes from the September 8 meeting, the fiduciary report and the exonerations the meeting began with Commission President Lance Hickman reading a request from James Swiger, President WYK Associates asking for the continuation of monthly C.A. Fees for the courthouse renovations. The original contract calls for monthly fees of $48,555 through October 2026 and is due for renewal. Commissioners approved the continuation of the monthly fees.

House Bill 4865 was passed by the legislature allowing 16 and 17 year old young adults to be election officials. The program stipulations are set forth by the legislature with the main stipulation being that they must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Commissioners approved the request.

Two other residents on the agenda were unable to attend the meeting so both agenda items were tabled.

There was no one present for public comment and after the approval to pay the bills the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m. The next meeting of the Tyler County Commission is scheduled for October 13, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the auditorium of the senior center in Middlebourne.
