Wetzel FFA Students Show at Town & Country

By Chuck Clegg - Staff Writer | Sep 2, 2026

Each August, Town & Country Days gives students from Wetzel County’s FFA chapters an opportunity to show their prize livestock.

At this year’s event Wetzel County FFA Students showed their high standard of animal husbandry in the showing of their prized hog and steer. The programs are part of farming that deals with the raising, and care of domestic animals. These types of farm animals play an important part in feeding America. Students who participate in this program learn about the care of animals and the many important things that are necessary to understand all parts of livestock raising.

The prized hog was supported by Wetzel County Schools, as students purchased the animal from Mr. Eli Midcap, and a steer from Mr. Ethaniel Harlan. The students also wish to thank Fronapfel & Burkett Insurance for purchasing and generously donating the hog to Wetzel County School. Their donation will help to support their Farm-to-Table program, providing fresh locally raised food for students.

A well-deserved congratulations goes to all the exhibitors on their hard work and dedication working with farm animals. These types of programs help to build our future agricultural leaders, through FFA programs and the higher education by local farmers.
