June 6 – The Town of Friendly will hold a Veterans Park Dedication on June 6, 2026 at 11am. Following the Dedication at 12pm the Ridgeline Band will perform and lunch will be provided by the Sistersville VFW Post 6327.
June 6 – Matamoras #374, Free and Accepted Masons, 301 Main Street, New Matamoras, OH is holding a community breakfast buffet, Saturday, June 6, 2026, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon roll, orange juice, and coffee. The public is invited to attend. Carry out is available. The suggested donation is $7 per person. Profits from the breakfast support state and local charities.

June 6 – The Arvilla Ice Cream Social will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 5 PM till 9PM at the Arvilla Community Building. Homemade ice cream and pies will be available in addition to a live auction at 7 PM. There will also be door prizes, a dunking booth, live entertainment, bingo, games and a Chinese auction. The social is sponsored by Arvilla CEOS and Arvilla Community Members & Friends.
June 7 – Family Fishing Day to be held in New Martinsville. The Center for Children and Families will hold a family fishing day at Lewis Wetzel Pond on Sunday June 7, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Free fishing for children 15 and under. Free food, fishing poles for all, and tackle boxes for all. Enjoy a great day, great people, and make great memories. Cast a line and have fun! June 8 — The American Legion Post #28 will hold their monthly meeting at 7 PM at post home. All post members are invited to attend and take part in programs, help at post, and just get involved. Meetings are where we do the planning for events coming up, updates on what is being done. and who can help were ever needed.
June 14 – The Anthony/Walton Reunion will be held Sunday, June 14th at the Lewis Wetzel Park shelter. The luncheon will begin at 2:30pm. All relatives and friends of Clarence “Tater” Anthony and Harold Walton are invited to come and bring a covered dish. Join us for an afternoon of reminiscing and catching-up.
June 17 – 4-H Lunch & Learn coming to Tyler County! WVU Extension in Tyler County announces their summer Lunch and Learn series which begins on June 17th. Join us each Wednesday from 10am to 1pm from June 17th through July 22nd. Each week, youth will learn a different topic: Plant ID for Kids; Insect Identification; Kids Yoga/Ice cream making; Fruit Preserves; Nature Scavenger Hunt; Moon Rovers. Lunch will be provided. June 21 – Valley Grange Father’s Day Scholarship Dinner
First heroic then uninformed; are adjectives we might have used for our parents “growing up”. But as we grew older, we learned to appreciate them more. Show dad some love by bringing him to the Valley Grange Father’s Day Scholarship dinner on Sunday June 21 from 11:00 – 2:00. June 22-26 – The Sistersville Church of the Nazarene will host Vacation Bible School June 22-26 at the church located at 810 Wells Street in Sistersville. This year’s exciting rainforest-themed VBS is open to children ages 3 years old through 5th grade. Activities will be held each evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Children will enjoy an exciting week filled with Bible lessons, games, music, crafts, and fun activities centered around the rainforest theme. Dinner will also be provided each evening The church welcomes all children and families from the community to attend this special week of faith, fellowship, and fun.

Saturday evening is the annual Magnolia Decades Reunion at the Lewis Wetzel Family Center. The cost at the door is $20 per person with the doors opening at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 26, we are still hopeful the Sistersville Ferry will be restored to full working condition for an evening cruise with pizza from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The price per person is yet to be determined but be sure to bring a lawn chair.

Sept. 20 – The WV Oil & Gas Festival Bass Tournament will be held at the St Marys Marina located at 617 Riverside Dr St Marys, WV on September 20, 2026. Registration is at 5:15 AM with Blast Off at 7:00 AM. Weigh In is at 4:00 PM with a five fish limit. 50HP minimum with working livewells required. Cost for the tournament is $100/boat and includes Big Bass. Tournament highlights include; 80 percent payback of the number of boats, Champion Trophy, Runner-Up Trophy, Big Bass Trophy, raffles and a 50/50 will be available. Tyler County Extension Announces 4-H Lunch & Learn classes this summer. Open to non 4-H members, you don’t have to be a registered 4-H’er to enroll in Lunch & Learn. The Tyler County Museum located on Dodd Street in Middlebourne is opening on May 3, 2026. Hours of operation are 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The museum is closed on all major holidays or when volunteers are not available. Call 304-758-2100 and leave a message.
The Pine Grove Seniors are meeting each Tuesday and Thursday at the Shortline Crossing in Pine Grove. Doors open 9am-1pm. The third Tuesday is a covered dish dinner. Broken Timber Outdoor Education Center: Consider joining the not-for-profit Broken Timber Outdoor Education Center. Members can use the library, make jig and sinkers in the lead lab; borrow any of the loaner rod and reels; check out items in the museum. You can take any of the many classes, such as trapper education, making fishing lures or flys, even take a hunter education class. Monthly Free Lunch and Necessities – The Faith Hands Ministry of Sistersville First United Methodist Church is adjusting its outreach this summer, swapping out its monthly community breakfast in favor of a hot lunch beginning Saturday, June 21, 2025. The meal will be served from 10 a.m. to noon in the church’s social hall. Held on the third Saturday of each month, the Faith Hands Community Lunch and Necessities Closet event is open to everyone and no proof of income or identification required. In addition to a free hot meal, guests can receive up to six hygiene items from a rotating list, including essentials like dish soap, diapers, and toilet paper.
The Wetzel-Tyler Health Department located in the United Methodist Church in New Martinsville holds their Board of Health meetings at their office on Monday’s at 10 AM. The dates for the meetings are July 6, 2026 and September 14, 2026
Food Drive: TheTyler County 4-H Club holds an ongoing food drive service project for the Stealey Green Center Food Pantry in Middlebourne. The Wetzel Tyler Health Dept proudly presents CPR/First Aid/AED training in partnership with the American Safety and Health Institute. The program is intended for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but desire or are required to be certified in basic emergency medical care. Class options are; adult, infant and child, adult-infant-child. The recognized certification period is two years. Fee is $35 per person (includes card fee). Our local DAV meetings are the place where we can share our problems, support each other in times of difficulty, find ways to improve our quality of life, and identify the needs of others.
Open Door Ministries
Open Door Ministries is now serving dinner on Tuesday of each month from the newly renovated kitchen and fellowship hall. Meals will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location is Acts Charitable Mission Church (ACM), 400 North Main Street, New Martinsville.
Volunteers are welcome on Monday and Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. each month. No deliveries available currently. The community is welcomed and there are no income requirements.

SMART Recovery Meetings Held
SMART (Self Management and Recovery Training) is now open for anyone seeking help with abstinence from drugs, alcohol, or any other behavior that may be having a negative effect on a personás life such as anger or depression. Canned Food Drive
The American Legion Riders of Coe-Thorn Post 67 Sistersville are conducting a canned food drive to benefit people in Tyler County. Receptacles are located at the Sistersville Post 67 Canteen, Sistersville VFW, and the Sistersville IGA.
All donations will go to the local food pantry for the benefit of those in need in Tyler County. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
Gamblers Anonymous
The Friday Night Harmony Group of Gamblers Anonymous meets every Friday, 7-8 p.m., at St. Paulás United Methodist Church, 130 South 4th Ave., Paden City. Go down the outside stairs in the rear of the church. No dues or fees are required, just a desire to stop gambling.
Ohio Valley Homeschool Connection
The Ohio Valley Homeschool Connection is composed of homeschooling families from Wetzel, Tyler and Monroe counties. The group meets every third Thursday of the month in New Martinsville for various activities such as projects, crafts, educational workshops, informational sessions, advice, support and encouragement. There are usually planned events for both children and parents. New families are welcome to attend any of the meetings, whether currently homeschooling or actively considering doing so. In July the group is specifically inviting any families that are interested in more information on homeschooling your children now or in the future.
Alma Senior Citizens Meeting
The Alma Senior Citizens, a satellite of CSTC — Social and Civic Minded — will meet every fourth Tuesday at Valley Grange, Route 18. A Covered Dish Dinner will be held at 5 p.m. F/B Business Meeting & Program. All are welcome.

Volunteers Needed For Veterans
The West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance is looking for individuals to volunteer one day a month to transport veterans to medical appointments for the Veteran Transportation Network. This program is designed to ensure that veterans without transportation have access to the health care that they need. It is free to the veterans.
