We are pleased to announce the wedding of JoEllen Ledbetter Kates and Steven Harold McNees (Big Mac) on the 11th day of November, 2017 in Port Orange, Florida. The bride is the daughter of Frances Ledbetter Tolleson of Newport News, Va., and the late Hubert E. Ledbetter of Haywood County, NC; and mother of Dylan T. Ledbetter of Tampa, Fl. The groom is the son of Mary Haught Thomas of Middlebourne, WV, and Wilbert McNees of Wilmington, NC; and the father of Emily J. McNees and Charles S. McNees of Middlebourne, WV.
JoEllen is originally from Newport News, Virginia; but has called Florida home for almost 30 years. She has an associate of arts and associate of science degree from Eastern Florida State College in Medical Technology; and a bachelor’s degree from Daytona State College in Supervision and Management. She currently works at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach as a clinical laboratory scientist, specializing in microbiology.
Steve had resided in Tyler County, WV for 50 years; graduating from Tyler County High School in 1975.
He retired from the Painters Union local 1144 in 2009. After raising 2 wonderful children he relocated to Volusia County Florida where he met the love of his life.
The couple currently live in Deltona, Florida, and are planning a honeymoon cruise to the southern Caribbean. Their future intentions are to continue living in the Volusia county area, and to travel and see the world.
