Powell, Smith United In Marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Andrew Smith

On June 20, Michelle Dawn Powell and Michael Andrew Smith were united in marriage with a firefighter themed wedding held at Shelter 2 – Grand Vue Park in Moundsville, W.Va. Pastor Mike Shank officiated the 5:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dee Powell and Kenneth Powell Jr of New Martinsville. The groom is the son of Robert Smith and Dawn Smith of Proctor.

The couple is blessed with one niece, Addyson Smith.

The bride’s brother, Kenny Powell III, ushered their mother in the ceremony and both parents gave her away.

Jessica Dunlap, best friend of the bride, and firefighter wife, was the matron of honor and Len Dunlap, best friend of the groom, served as best man. Len is a firefighter with New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department.

The bridesmaids included Stephanie Pool, friend of the bride; Ashton Smith, sister-in-law of the groom; and Kyra Proctor, friend of the bride. Ashton is also a fire wife and Kyra is a firefighter fiance.

The groomsmen included Ben Thomas, friend of the groom; Josh Smith, brother of the groom; and Cris Jenkins, friend of the groom. Ben is a firefighter at NMVFD, Josh serves as a Lieutenant, and Cris serves as Deputy Chief.

Makinlee Proctor served as flower girl, and Kaylup Hall and Wyatt Dunlap served as ring bearers. All three are children of firefighters, completing a fire-themed bridal party.

A reception was held at Grand Vue Park’s Banquet Hall.

Michelle is a 2008 graduate of Magnolia High School and a 2013 graduate of West Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting. She is employed at Brenda S. Botizan, CPA A.C in New Martinsville as an Accounting Assistant.

Michael is a 2006 graduate of Magnolia High School. He is employed with Elk Energy Services as a Consultant for Stone Energy. He also actively serves in the New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department as Lieutenant.

The couple enjoyed a week-long honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic before returning to their residence in New Martinsville.
