Matthews and Riggs united

Mrs. Shane Matthews

Shane Matthews and Lauren Riggs were united in marriage during a simple ceremony Sept. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Gorrell’s Run Church of Christ, with Homer Matthews officiating.

Lauren is the daughter of Bill and Tammy Riggs of Alma. She is the granddaughter of Nellie and the late George Riggs of Middlebourne, and Mary Catherine and the late Leo Stubbs of Shirley.

Shane is the son of DeWayne (Louise) Matthews of Middlebourne and Vera (Ron) Hoskinson of Sardis. He is the grandson of the late James and Goldie Matthews and Harold and Sylvia Moore.

Lauren also has one sister, Megan (Jason) Ancell of Morgantown. The couple is also blessed with one niece, Madison, and a nephew, Landon.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School and a 2011 graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies, minors in Communication Studies, Business Administration, and Professional Writing and Editing.

Lauren is currently employed by the Wetzel Chronicle as a staff writer. She will soon begin a new career with the Union Bank.

The groom is a 1997 graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School and a 2002 graduate of Fairmont State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and Bachelor of Science in Finance.

He is employed at Bridgeport Equipment and Tool as Rental Manager.

After a honeymoon in the mountains of West Virginia, the couple resides in Middlebourne. A reception was held Oct. 19 at Tyler County 4-H Grounds to celebrate their nuptials.
