SGH honors Dr. Avington’s service

Sistersville General Hospital held an open house on Oct. 21 to honor Dr. David Avington for his dedicated service to the community.

Dr. Avington, a native of Parkersburg, joined Parkersburg Cardiology Associates in 1973, and provided services to patients in the surrounding area through Sistersville General Hospital.

He majored in biology at Wheeling College, and he received his doctorate of medicine degree from Georgetown University in 1966. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Kentucky in 1973, and he completed his fellowship in cardiology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Dr. Avington is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the West Virginia Heart Association, and the West Virginia Medical Association. His expertise within the field of cardiology includes general cardiology.

He and his wife, Delores, are the parents of Carla and Bethany.
