Collett to exhibit works at festival
Local resident Marilyn Collett will exhibit her artistic talents during Sistersville Marble Festival Sept. 23, 1-5 p.m. and Sept. 24, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Sistersville Public Library.
On display will be photographs taken by Ms. Collett at the Phipps Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh and the Meijer Gardens near Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2010.
As a newly emerging artist, Collett has studied watercolor painting under the instruction of Jerre Watkins and Cheryl Harshman of Hurricane and Wheeling, respectively. She has also painted with Woodsfields Arts.
Her work has been exhibited locally during the Artslink Coffeehouse Series as well as First Sunday Art Exhibit at the Francis Center for Creative Arts in New Martinsville. Her work is currently on display at the Gold Derrick Gallery, Sistersville.
Collett commented, “I created this collection for the sole purpose of sharing the beautiful landscapes with people who may not be able to visit the gardens.
