Tyler Co. School Levy Passes

With 34.11 percent of registered voters casting ballots, voters took to the polls on Tuesday, May 12, and passed the Tyler County BOE School Levy with 54.76 percent of the votes approving the measure, while 45.24 percent voiced their opposition. When all votes were counted 1,035 approved the levy with 855 against. The levy will run for five years.Tyler County has 5,608 registered voters

The Fire Levy and EMS Levy also passed with the fire levy receiving 1,315 votes for the levy and 573 voting against the levy. The EMS levy received 1,222 votes in favor and 665 against the levy.

The race for House of Delegates 8th District representing Tyler, Wetzel and Doddridge Counties had two republicans running with Steven Smith of Doddridge County defeating Wetzel County resident and incumbent Bill Bell by a vote of 1,232 to 941. No Democrats were on the ballot so Smith will be the next delegate. Bell assumed office in July of 2025 when he was appointed by Governor Morrisey.

Steve Thomas was the winner for House of Delegates 9th District with a total of 188 votes. Mr. Thomas defeated five other candidates.

The Tyler County Commission race went to Jeffery A. Davis defeating Steven C. Weigle with 823 votes to 504 votes for Weigle.

Incumbent Board of Education members Katrina Byers and Scott Strode, both unopposed, were reelected with Byers receiving 1,116 votes and Strode receiving 1,241 votes. Newly elected Trad Dill (unopposed) received 1,094 votes.
