New Elementary School Breaks Ground
Construction is officially underway for the new Tyler Consolidated Elementary School, as a ceremonial groundbreaking was held April 2, 2026, at 2028 Silver Knight Drive, behind the current high school and middle school.
Superintendent Shane Higley opened the program, and Tyler County Board of Education President Katrina Byers addressed the large crowd, praising the teamwork that brought the project to this milestone. Project leaders Patrick Rymer of McKinley Architecture and Engineering and Tom Hacke, Vice President of operations of Rycon Construction, shared plans and set expectations for the proposed school’s fall 2028 completion.
The ceremonial turning of soil included board members, official guests, and Sarah Midcap, the landowner who made the site possible. The new 145,666-square-foot school will serve pre-K through fifth grade, featuring cutting-edge classrooms, a full gymnasium, an on-site medical clinic, and daycare for employees.
Tyler County schools would like to extend their sincere thanks to the citizens of Tyler County, whose support through taxpayer funding made this new school possible.
