Davis to Run for County Seat

By Staff | Apr 8, 2026

MIDDLEBOURNE, WV — Jeff Davis has officially announced his candidacy for Tyler County Commission, emphasizing a commitment to strong financial leadership, responsible governance, and a vision for the county’s future.

A lifelong resident of Tyler County, Davis says his decision to run is rooted in a deep personal connection to the community.

“I’m running for County Commission because I want to make a difference in the community that we all live in,” Davis said. “I want it to be a great place for my children, grandchildren and all future generations.”

Davis brings over three decades of experience in financial management and public service. He recently retired as Treasurer and Chief School Business Official for the Tyler County Board of Education, a position he has held since 1998. His previous roles include Chief Financial Officer at Sistersville General Hospital and Operations Officer at Union Bank in Sistersville. Davis was also an Adjunct Professor at Salem University where he taught Finance in their Master’s program. More recently he was a founding member of Education Consulting Team, LLC, a company that provides financial consulting and mentor services throughout West Virginia.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from Salem University, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from West Virginia University, and is a graduate of the West Virginia School of Banking at Marshall University.

Throughout his career, Davis has remained actively involved in the community. His service includes roles with the Tyler County Fair Association, Sistersville General Hospital Foundation, and Union Bank & Hometown Bancshares, Inc., where he has served on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Audit Committee. He has also contributed as a coach for the Middlebourne Youth League and was the President of both the West Virginia and Southeastern Associations of School Business Officials.

Davis emphasizes that fiscal responsibility is the cornerstone of effective county leadership.

“The number one duty of a county commissioner is to manage the fiscal affairs of the county,” he said. “With my background in financial leadership, I am prepared to ensure taxpayer dollars are managed wisely and transparently.”

If elected, Davis says his priorities will include maintaining strong financial oversight, supporting infrastructure improvements, public safety, encouraging economic development, job growth, and protecting the values of the community.

Election Day is May 12.
