Sistersville Welcomes New Police Officer

By Staff | Apr 2, 2026

The Sistersville Police Department is proud to announce the hiring of a new officer, 22-year-old Cody Leek, a 2022 graduate of Magnolia High School.

After completing high school, Cody pursued further training in the field of chemical operations, earning his chemical operator’s license.

While that career path provided valuable technical skills, he ultimately chose law enforcement to have a more direct impact on his community.

“I wanted to be in a position where I could help people and be actively involved in the community,” Cody said. “I value the responsibility that comes with the role and the opportunity to make a practical difference through service, accountability, and presence. I take pride in being hard-working and goal-oriented, and I’m committed to serving the Sistersville community with integrity, dedication, and professionalism.”

Cody expressed enthusiasm for his new role, noting his eagerness to grow and develop as a law enforcement officer. “I look forward to continuing to grow in my role as my skills develop, making a meaningful impact through my work in law enforcement,” he said.

Officer Leek will attend the state’s 203rd Police Basic Training Academy in May. Commonly referred to as “the academy,” the facility sits on approximately 24 acres in Institute, West Virginia, and serves as a central training and conference center for law enforcement professionals across the state.

Sistersville Police Chief Anthony Lauer welcomed Officer Leek to the force, emphasizing the importance of dedicated, community-focused officers. “We are excited to have Cody join our department,” Chief said. “His commitment to service and strong sense of responsibility will make him a valuable addition to our team and a positive presence in Sistersville.”

Residents can look forward to seeing Officer Leek patrolling the streets in the months ahead as he begins his law enforcement career and continues his training.
