Air-Evac Location Closes
Spokesperson Says Service Seldom Used in Area
On Tuesday, September 28, a spokesperson from Air-Evac Lifeteam notified Wetzel County they will be closing their location near WVU Wetzel County Hospital effective immediately. The Air-Evac Lifeteam 78 base has been in operation for 13 years in the Wetzel location and served patients in a 70 mile radius
The spokesperson from the Lifeteam said low useage of their service was their main reason for closing the base.
Air MedCare Network members in the following counties will receive a letter detailing their options, including a prorated refund: West Virginia – Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Marshall, Ohio, Pleasants, Ritchie, Tyler, Wetzel and Wood; and Ohio – Belmont and Monroe.
The closest Air Evac Lifestream base will now be in Lancaster Ohio or St. Louisville, Ohio.
Employees of the Wetzel County air medical location have been offered positions at other Air Evac Lifeteam locations.
