Tyler County BOE Approves New Employments
The Tyler County Board of Education met for a regularly schedueld meeting on September 20, 2021. After the approval of the minutes, Renee Glover addressed the Board regarding the mask mandate enacted at the previous meeting. Glover questioned the authority of the Board to mandate mask wearing; Superintendent Shane Highley said that he is working with the Health Department about monitoring the use of masks in school. Mr. Highley is also looking into temperature scanners for students as they enter the school building. He will continue researching the scanners and will discuss it with the Board at a future meeting.
Mr. Highley then spoke about the progress of the on-going projects in the schools.
The new signs have been delivered and are ready to install. As for the bleacher project, the bleachers for TCMS have been installed and are currently being used. The TCHS bleachers are partially installed; another delivery is expected on October 11.
The Board moved on to approve the Annual Financial Staement FY21 and the renewal of the HVAC Contract with Siemens from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
They also approved a policy review regarding the IW Comprehensive School Counseling Program.
New employments that were approved include: Bailee Longwell, Tracy Hakes, Kendra Lydick, Jessica Moffitt and Victoria Thomas as Substitute Classroom Aides, effective immediately; Patricia Jones, Megan Haught, Bailee Longwell, Pamela Adams, Tracy Hakes and Angi McDonald as Substitute Cooks, effective immediately; Patricia Jones, Megan haught, Eli Hayes, Bailee Longwell and Jessica Greathouse as Substitute Custodians, effective immediately; Linda Kile as COVID Custodian at TCHS/TCMS, effective September 21, 2021. Roger Young was transferred to Bus Operator of an additional Paden City Route, effective immediately.
After the payment of the bills was approved, the meeting adjourned at 7:31 PM. The next regular meeting will be held Monday, October 4 at 7:00 PM in the Tyler Consolidated Auditorium.
