Movie House Provides Family Fun And Entertainment in New Martinsville
In the spring of 2020, one of Wetzel County’s most beloved places for quality family entertainment was in danger of no longer existing. Valley Cinema 3 had been a staple in the community for three decades and was weeks away from shutting down permanently. The Wetzel County Convention & Visitors Bureau stepped in and purchased the business just as COVID began sweeping the nation. As the pandemic gripped the nation, theaters nationwide were forced to stay closed. With a newly purchased theater that was unable to open due to health mandates, the CVB spent the next several months remodeling the lobby area.
Finally, in April of 2021, more than a year after purchasing the business, the CVB opened the doors to the newly renamed Movie House.
Open Thursday through Sunday, The Movie House has continued the tradition of showing first-run cinematic releases.
One of the things that patrons will notice is that the CVB didn’t hike up prices on either the concessions or tickets. As a matter of fact, The Movie House has a couple of specials that have been a hit with movie goers. The “Date Night Deal” gives customers two tickets, a large popcorn, and two medium drinks for the small fee of $25. The “Family Deal” allows customers to purchase four tickets, two large popcorns, and four medium drinks for only $50.
“Something we are extremely proud of is that you can come to The Movie House without breaking the bank,” said Movie House Vice President Robby Parsons. “We want to remain an affordable, family friendly option for entertainment for years to come.”
