Virtual Show Winners Honored
Prior to this year’s Tyler County Fair Market Livestock Sale, held during the 2021 edition of the Tyler County Fair, the winners of the 2020 Market Livestock Show were honored. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent cancellation of the 2020 edition of the Tyler County Fair, the exhibitors had to show, and ultimately sell, their livestock differently last year — in a virtual format. Each exhibitor was responsible for submitting a video, which showcased their prospective livestock. This virtual livestock show was then judged online; comments and scoring were provided to each exhibitor.
Results were the following: Ashley Spencer, Grand Champion Steer; Nick Spencer, Reserve Champion Steer; Emma Paden, Grand Champion Lamb; Kayli West, Reserve Champion Lamb; Chance Rine, Grand Champion Hog; Kayli West, Reserve Champion Hog; JD Wells, Grand Champion Rabbits; Elizabeth Paden, Reserve Champion Rabbits.
“We certainly wanted to give these exhibitors the recognition they deserved for their efforts from last year,” stated Shane Matthews, Tyler County Fair Livestock Chairman.
He continued, “All of the exhibitors raised livestock last year in hopes of having a live show and sale, as we have always been able to have. After the cancellation of the fair, these young men and women now had to determine how they were going to sell their livestock. Some chose to sell their animals on their own, while others chose to sell through the silent auction held by the Tyler County Fair Market Livestock program.”
“Regardless of the method they chose, the Tyler County Fair Livestock Committee applaud these young men and women for overcoming the many challenges they faced in the past year. We are proud of them and the way they represent the future of agriculture.”
