On July 2 The Pchs Class Of ’61 Celebrated Their 60th Class Reunion
Sixty years ago, 39 students earned their Paden City High school diploma. Today we are blessed that 29 of those graduates remain with us. Our prayers go to all that have passed.
Our class convened at the Court Restaurant to renew relationships, catch up on the status of each, our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A very brief program was conducted. Niles Dean Hissom blessed the event and the food. Larry and Peril Gilbert provided a housewarming gift for a raffle won by Tom and Mary Anne Worst. Cheryl Smith Olson drove in from Deland, FL for the event. Dan and Donna Bullman and Janice Cecil Capobianco arrived from Ohio. Dick and Karen Smittle and Roy Huffman came in from Pittsburgh. Paul and Mary Feldmeier, Diane Reed Hayes, Ron Heasley, Betty Hissom, Jo Ellen Dailey Slider, Bob and Pat Steele, and Linda Menges Stillwagner and Pat enjoyed reminiscing.
The Class of ’61 proudly announced that Isaac Neff was awarded the 2021 Class of ’61 Scholarship. Isaac will be attending West Virginia University as a Music Major. Isaac is the 12th recipient of our class scholarship. Isaac, we wish you the best. For decades any graduate of Paden City High School has received a scholarship to assist with college tuition. This accomplishment is due to the dedication of the Paden City Foundation.
Our thanks to the wonderful people at the Court for making our visit so warm and welcome.
Our class was fortunate to have won a State Championship, over 10% of the class earned their PhD., one class member was appointed to the Naval Academy and several of our classmates went directly from high school to being a Mobay chemist. We had multiple members of the “The Biggest Little Band in the Land”. It was not unusual to see a football uniform or two marching with the band at half time. Most important, half of our classmates were able to raise their families in Paden City. Helping to keep Paden City at the top of our list as the greatest city ever.
It was great seeing so many Paden City friends. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening together renewing acquaintances. We all remain Paden City Proud.
Until the next time …
