Spring is in the Air
Sistersville Elementary School students treated local residents to an amazing art installation presented during the “Spring is in the Air” art show held May 8th and 9th at the Gold Derrick Gallery in Sistersville, WV. All students in grade levels kindergarten through fifth prepared a unique work of art featuring imagery associated with springtime. The colorful collection was pinned to clothesline strung over ladders giving the room a whimsical appearance, while kites, butterflies and ducks encircled the gallery walls. Over 100 guests stopped by to view the art on display. It was especially enjoyable to watch as young artists searched for their unique artwork to share with their visiting family members. Emma Olaru, art teacher at Sistersville Elementary School, explained students had worked for weeks on the project and were able to create their piece using mixed media or materials. Special thanks go out to Terry Wiley for his gracious donation of the use of the Gold Derrick Gallery.
