Nichols Earns Roy C. Heinlein Scholarship

Every year the SHS Alumni Association awards the Roy C Heinlein Scholarship to an outstanding senior at Tyler Consolidated High School that has at least one parent that graduated from Sistersville High School. This person must exemplify the qualities in which this scholarship was founded. The scholarship looks for those of good character, hard- working individuals that show leadership, as well as the drive to accomplish their goals.

Everyone wants success, but it only follows those who make a true approach to get it. You know that hard work and dedication have a destination, which is success.

This year’s recipient ranks 1st in her class with a scholastic average of 4.5272 and has been named valedictorian. She has received numerous awards and recognitions as well as qualified for academic honors all four years attending TCHS including academic letters, Top 15% Banquet Award, faithful attendance, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award and Seminar, Governor’s Honor Academy Award, Math Field Day Top 10 and 1st Place Awards, Elks Legion Essay Contest Award, Research Presentation Award on Titanic, and TCHS Homecoming Queen.

She has served on the Student Council, holding the title of Secretary. She has been freshman, sophomore and junior class secretary and also senior class historian. She applied to Girls State but did not get to attend due to COVID 19. She was a member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior year, serving as president. She was a member of the Book Club (secretary), Sources of Strength Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions Club, Quilting and Sewing Club, and Prom Club (secretary).

She was a member of the Silver Knight varsity volleyball and softball teams. As well as a member of the Knights Pride Band receiving multiple awards and superior ratings.
