An Easter Bunny’s Journey
Loretta Underwood moved to Sistersville several years ago. You might remember seeing her, a single mother of six children; she was well known for walking her children “mother duckling style,” all six in a row following behind her when going to town. Loretta is also known for her kind heart and volunteer spirit. In the past she has assisted with the Marble Festival, helping to host Ferry Cruises for the ladies auxiliary and lining up the town’s annual Christmas parade. Perhaps she is best known for portraying the role of the Easter Bunny for all the children in our community, a job she loving did for several years.
Two years ago Loretta was stricken with cancer, but that hasn’t stopped her
. “I lost feeling in both of my legs from cancer, but I kicked cancer to the curb,” noted Loretta. She also shared how much she missed helping out her wonderful town of Sistersville while she was down. “I couldn’t have made it this far without God’s help, my family and my community,” Loretta noted. She expressed how grateful she is to have made her home in Sistersville, and looks forward to many, many more years to come.
Sistersville in turn enjoys having people like Loretta and her family. As a community they express their appreciation to her for your hard work, positive attitude, and friendship to Sistersville as a whole.
