Wetzel/ Tyler Chamber of Commerce new office on North Street in Mew Martinsville

The Weztel County Chamber of Commerce is announcing that effective immediately, it will be changing its name to The Wetzel-Tyler Chamber of Commerce. Over the course of the coming weeks, the Chamber will be working on updating the name across social media, its website and on all of its signage.

For many years, the Wetzel-Tyler Chamber has offered aid, support and marketing opportunities to business in both Wetzel and Tyler Counites as well as the riverfront area of Monroe county.

The name change is designed to help reflect that the Chamber has broadened the scope of the services it offers.

Wetzel and Tyler counties share many of the same values, opportunities and challenges. Together, these counties represent one large rural community nestled in between the Wheeling, Parkersburg, Morgantown, and Clarksburg areas.

By pulling together and sharing the resources and of this area, citizens and entrepreneurs in both counties can benefit.

“2020 was a rough year for everyone. Many of our local businesses felt the impact of pandemic-related restrictions. Some businesses simply couldn’t sustain through the economic turn and were forced to close. Still others have uncertain futures,” stated new Chamber President, Tina Rush. “Even the Chamber was forced to make changes, including cancelling events and going virtual with others.

The Chamber is hoping to serve as a catalyst for re-igniting our local business community, and 2021 represents an opportunity for us to do just that! At the end of 2020 we relocated to a new office on North Street in New Martinsville. Earlier this year we changed our name to the Wetzel-Tyler Chamber of Commerce to let those in Tyler County know that we are here to act as a resource for them as well. We have served the Tyler County area for years, but decided it was time to be inclusive with our name, and to show our dedication to the people and businesses in both counties. It was the perfect time for us to make this change.”

The Wetzel-Tyler Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization focused on promoting economic opportunity, access to employment, business education and resource development in and around Wetzel and Tyler counties. The Chamber is dedicated to working with local entrepreneurs and bringing them together with the factors of production available in the region. By taping into the assets and identifying the opportunities provided by the local environment, The Chamber strives to create a business culture which can benefit the entire community.
