Tyler FFA Holds Annual Ham and Bacon Sale
The 71st annual Tyler County Ham, Bacon, and Egg sale was held on March 6, 2021 at Tyler Consolidated High School. This year’s event raised a total of $56,061.13. The Tyler FFA Alumni Scholarship and Jim and Thelma Ash Memorial Scholarship raised $6520. New this year was an award titled “Premier Exhibitor”. This award is given at the annual ham and bacon sale to recognize Tyler FFA members who have put in the most hours doing various activities related to the ham and bacon program. The activities they have participated in have included time spent processing pigs in the fall, putting hams into cure, spare rib removal from bacons, putting bacons in the cure, preparing hams for equalization, preparing hams for drying, trimming hams, trimming bacons, smoking the hams and bacons, and preparing the show and sale. Receiving this year’s award were Abbi Kimble, Chance Rine, Garrett Ammons, Elizabeth Paden, and Chase Thomas.
The Grand Champion Ham was purchased by Bob George representing Momentive Performance Materialsand exhibited by Allie Wince.
The Reserve Champion Ham was purchased by Patrick Rymer Representing McKinley Architecture and Engineering and exhibited by Donovon Judge.
The Grand Champion Bacon was purchased by Patrick Rymer Representing McKinley Architecture and Engineering and exhibited by Garrett Ammons.
The Reserve Champion Bacon was purchased by Angela Sandy Representing Long Reach Federal Credit Union and exhibited by Elizabeth Pade.
The Grand Champion Eggs were purchased by Linda Hoover, Tyler County Board of Education and exhibited by Chance Rine.
The Reserve Champion Eggs were purchased by RJ Morgan Representing MPLX and exhibited by Garrett Ammons.
The Reserve Champion Bread was purchased by Brent Ash and exhibited by Shelby Thomas
The Grand Champion Bread was purchased by RJ Morgan Representing MPLX and purchased by Aaron Goff.
The Scholarship Ham and Bacon was purchased by Cason Edwards – Middlebourne Galaxy. The Scholarship Bacon was exhibited by Tyler FFA Vice President, Abbi Kimble and the Scholarship Ham was exhibited by Tyler FFA President, Garrett Ammons.
