Paden City Holds Special Council Meeting

The Common Council of Paden City met in special session on Monday, October 26, 2020, at 4 p.m. in the council chambers at the city municipal building.

Following a prayer and pledge of allegiance to the flag, a roll calll of council members was taken by Mayor Rick Casteel.

All members were present with the exception of Aunnia Brady.

On the agenda was the first reading of an ordinance to adopt a one percent sales tax within the city.

The first reading of the ordinance was held with councilman Steve Kastigar making a motion for approval followed by a second from councilman J.P. Springer.

The vote was unanimous from all members present.

Also on the agenda was the removal of a tree in an alley off of east Main Street.

No action was taken on the matter at the time.

Council unanimously approved a motion to hire another Police Officer.

Lisa Shreves was approved by council to be the crossing guard on Rt. 2, for the elementary school.

She will not start until Wetzel County schools return from the COVID.

A motion was made and the meeting was adjourned.
