Middle Island Harvest Festival Cancelled
The 2020 edition of the Middle Island Harvest Festival has officially been cancelled, according to the Tyler County Fair Association. Fair board members cite Governor Jim Justice’s ongoing restrictions placed on fairs and festivals as the reason for the cancellation of the yearly festival.
The restrictions had been placed in July as a result of an uptick in COVID-19 cases throughout the state.
“We waited until the last minute to officially cancel this year’s harvest festival, hoping that the restrictions placed by the governor in July would be lifted in time for the festival to be held,” explained board president Andy Weekley.
Weekley explained that, despite the cancellation of the festival, the fair board is still hoping to make sorghum molasses and apple butter, and will be researching ways to sell the products around the same time the festival is traditionally held. He urges the public to follow the Tyler County Fair Association’s official Facebook page for future details.
