October Is Cruisin’ Month on the Sistersville Ferry

By Staff | Sep 9, 2020

The Sistersville Ferry will offer October cruises seven days a week.

Sistersville, WV: In recent years, the Sistersville Ferry has concluded seasonal service at the end of September. This year, the Ferry will offer a new service during October featuring cruises only.

The October cruises will be available seven days a week, and you can choose your departure time beginning in the morning and extending into late afternoon hours by prior reservation.

Captain Bo Hause said, “This is a great opportunity to experience the fall beauty of West Virginia and Ohio while navigating north or south on the Ohio River.

The scenery is gorgeous.” Hause suggested private parties for birthdays, Halloween, reunions, anniversaries, civic groups, and added that it will be a spectacular time for “leaf-peeper” trips.

There’s no better or more unique venue for an outdoor gathering. All cruises will originate and end at either the Sistersville, WV Landing or the Fly, OH Landing. Guests can pick the day, time, and length of the cruise. Reservations can be made by calling Captain Bo at 304-482-4954.

The Sistersville Ferry is the last operating vehicle and pedestrian ferry serving West Virginia and Ohio, the only ferry operating on the upper 427 miles of the Ohio River, and is crucial to the efficient transport of goods and services within its region.

Through the dedication of several private owners, and now the City of Sistersville, the Ferry has provided two centuries of transportation service to the people and businesses of a 32-mile stretch of the river not served by an Ohio River Bridge.
