Middle Island Longbeards’ Alternate Fundraiser Takes Place

The Middle Island Longbeards of the National Wild Turkey Federation held their 22nd Annual Hunting Heritage fundraiser a little differently this year on August 18.

Due to the pandemic, the annual event could not be held as usual and we couldn’t host the usual banquet.

The Longbeards were able to raise funds although the fine banquet meal wasn’t able to be enjoyed by the FORT, the caterer. The MIL chapter would like to thank all ticket holders that renewed or took new memberships and stuck it out. Tickets for Sponsor memberships, Regular and Women in the Outdoors memberships had their memberships renewed and other Early Bird ticket holders that were purchased prior to the regular scheduled event didn’t want a refund had their tickets converted to Firearms Raffles.

The winners were: Kenneth Hart won the Henry .22 Lever action for memberships, Dale Koontz won the Howa Hogue 6.5 Creedmore OD w/ scope and NWTF logo Early Bird gun,

Ron Fletcher won a Tri Star Viper G2 .410 Semi-auto Early Bird gun, Zac Leasure won the Ruger Precision Rimfire .17HMR w/NWTF logo another Early Bird gun. Elizabeth Metzger, (firearms dealer) won one of the Sponsor member’s guns, a Tri Star Upland Hunter .20 Ga. over/under with Mossy Oak Bottomland camo and NWTF logo, Zac Leasure won another Tri Star Sponsor gun, the same as the other sponsor gun. Jamie Barnard won the third sponsor firearm – a Heritage Rough Rider American .22/.22mag revolver w/NWTF logo and wooden display box. John Heard won the Gun of the Year – Benelli Montefeltro .20 Ga. Satin Walnut/Burnt Bronze Ceracote w/custom engraving. Jacob Lambert won the Mossberg .22 Plinkster JAKES gun and Creed Hickman won the Daisy Rough Rider BB gun W/JAKES logo. The middle Island Longbeards would like to thank the FORT for a meeting place. Drawings were held when the chapter met at the FORT Restaurant on August 18.

Thanks to all of the support from local individuals and businesses the Longbeards were able to be successful in raising funds for Wild Turkey Conservation as well as continuing on with their JAKES mission. They were also able to make a donation to the national Wild Turkey federation’s “CALL FOR ALL,” keeping the NWTF the best Conservation Organization and are able to Carry out the Hunting Heritage mission amid the pandemic.
