Sistersville Marks Memorial Day

By Staff | May 27, 2020

A 21-gun salute and playing of “Taps” was provided in Sistersville.

Although COVID-19 has been the driving force behind the shut down of many events, the city of Sistersville didn’t let the pandemic stop them from honoring their fallen veterans with a Memorial Day service.

Locals gathered at Veterans Park in Sistersville in order to express their gratitude to those who have paid the ultimate price in order to secure us our freedom.

The Memorial service, which was well attended, saw remarks from VFW Post 6327 Post Commander and former Commander, as well as the singing of the National Anthem by local Danny Henthorn and the laying of the wreath ceremony performed by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Also provided was the gun salute and the playing of Taps.

Sistersville VFW concluded their ceremony by serving pizza and drinks, all while maintaining proper social distancing and following the CDC guidelines.
