Ham and Bacon Sale This Weekend
The Tyler County Ham and Bacon Sale is set to begin at 1 p.m. on March 7 at Tyler Consolidated High School.
A pre-sale buyer dinner will be served at 11:30 p.m. This will be followed by the auctioning off of 70 smoked country cured hams, 70 smoked country cured bacons, 10 dozen farm fresh eggs, and 10 loaves of fresh homemade bread.
The meat to be auctioned has been raised by Tyler FFA members who raise the hogs for their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program. Over the course of the past several weeks, the students have learned the process of curing these hams and bacons with the ideal of providing the best quality meat possible. Hard work and dedication goes into the final product, as many students and the advisors dedicate the better part of their days to complete the project.
Supporting the young FFA members in their agricultural endeavors is not only encouraging to the students, but also beneficial, as many of them often put the money towards schooling or furthering their agricultural experiences through other Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs.
