Several community members gathered around the Sistersville Veteran’s Memorial Park to honor those who have served our country, past and present, with a heartfelt ceremony.

Bobby Dawson lead the gathering in the playing of the National Anthem.

The American Legion previously held a contest in the schools titled “What A Veteran Means to Me” and several students were present to accept their award in front of the crowd.

Chris Delaney, Commander of Legion, had this to say about the day, “This is a special day that we celebrate in our fine United States. I challenge everybody today, as you leave here to complete the rest of your day, to ask yourselves what we ask these kids, ‘What does a veteran mean to me?’. All of us will have different answers, and no answer is the wrong answer …We have guys over here from Vietnam all the way through the Gulf War, and they are still supporting their community.”

The Sistersville Elks generously fed the Veteran’s following the service.
