Sistersville Resident Faces Battery Charge

Troy Scott Morgan, 28, of 200 E. Jackson St. Paden City was charged in Tyler County Magistrate Court on November 1, with misdemeanor battery. He entered a not guilty plea and was released on a $5,000 property/surety bond posted by A Bail Bonding By Suters.

According to the Tyler County Sheriff’s report filed in Tyler County Magistrate office, Deputy Bryan S. Owens was called to 6522 Tyler Highway, Sistersville, WVa., for a battery. Upon arrival the officer spoke with Jason Anderson who had a video recording on his cell phone. Upon viewing Mr. Anderson’s cell phone officer Owens observed a verbal altercation between the above named defendant and David William Metzer II.

During the verbal altercation the above defendant then walked up to Mr. Metzer and hit him in the face.

The video then shows the above named defendant on top of Mr. Metzer while Mr. Metzer is laying on the ground and the above named defendant striking Mr. Metzer multible times in the head with a closed fist. Mr. Metzer was trasported to Wetzel County Hospital via Middlebourne EMS for his injuries.

With the above incident still under investigation new charges have been filed against Morgan and he was arrested again and charged with malicious assault a felony and bond was set at the Tyler County Magistrate office on Friday, November 8, in the amount of $10,000. The matter remains under investigation by the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office.
