Winning Tradition Continues for TCHS Band

The Tyler Consolidated High School Silver Knights Marching Band had a very successful day at the Ripley High School Viking Fest on Saturday, October 5. In Division I, Class A (30-49 musicians), the TCHS Band won 1st Place Drumline, 1st Place Field Commander, 2nd Place Color Guard, and 1st Place Band. The band also won 2nd Runner-Up Grand Champion for Division I and finished 3rd overall out of 16 bands. Finishing ahead of the Knights Band was Parkersburg South High School, and the Grand Champion for the competition was George Washington High School.
“I am very proud of these kids,” remarked TCHS Band Director, Matt Jennings. “They can see that months of hard work and dedication pays off. We are looking forward to more success in our remaining two competitions.” The Knights Band will be competing on October 12 at the 65th Annual West Virginia Black Walnut Band and Majorette Competition in Spencer and will also compete at the 2nd Annual Patriot Invitational at Parkersburg South High School on October 26.
