Hayden Montgomery

The Sistersville Elks Lodge #333 announced the four students chosen to be the September Teenagers of the Month. These four individuals are Anna Griffith, Creed Ammons, Hayden Montgomery, and Sonny Leek.

Anna Griffith, daughter of Joe and Colleen Griffith, was chosen as a Senior Teenager of the Month. Griffith is involved in extracurricular activities including Golf and Marching Band, as well as organizations such as STARS, NHS, Book Club, Environmental Club, Sewing Club, and the School Climate Committee.

Additionally, she has been awarded perfect attendance, is in the Top 15 percent of her class, and is on the merit list a Northern College. Amidst her activities, she still finds time to volunteer for community service by doing food pantry help, working in the community garden, and working in the concession stand.

Creed Ammons, son of Leon and Deanna Ammons, was also chosen as a Senior Teenager of the Month. Ammons participates in Cross Country, Baseball, 4-H, FFA, the National Honor Society, and FBLA. Ammons also has held many honors and awards this year including participating in the FFA Washington Leadership Conference and being the Speaker of House at WV Boys State. Additionally, Creed was the Senior and Premier Sheep Showman Champion at the Tyler County Fair, and has two state titles at the WV FFA Career Development Events, including first place in Prepared Public Speaking and second place at Poultry Evaluation. Creed holds the title of Secretary in the National Honor Society this year, and served the community by volunteering for Meals of Hope.

Hayden Montgomery, daughter of Tonya Forrester, was chosen as a Junior Teenager of the Month. Montgomery’s activities include concert band and marching band. Additionally, Montgomery studies Honors Math and Honors ELA, is on the Honor Role, and holds several band awards. She is a member of NJHS and Student Council, and earns community service hours working concessions and cleaning up after school football games.

Sonny Leek

Sonny Leek, nephew of Emmie and Shawn Baker, was also elected as a Junior Teenager of the Month. Leek participates in TCMS football, and is on the Honor Roll. Additonally, Sonny is a member of the hiking club, and enjoys dirt track racing at the Tyler County speedway, four wheeler riding, playing football, working on the race car, and doing summer jobs for responsibility and to earn money.
