RegattaFest Board Announces 2019 Dates
The 2019 RegattaFest Board of Directors met recently and approved Sept. 28-29 as the official dates for the eighth annual RegattaFest. Preliminary plans for expanding the free festival, based on the theme of increased community participation, were discussed, and some new or expanded programs are already in place. Activities which invite local participation include the annual RegattaFest Queen Pageant, the “Just for Kids” Fun Zone, and a two-day Corn Hole Tournament. New programs will be announced as chairmen are found, and committees are formed. Entertainment will include the return of Spike Riel, the tri-state area’s favorite DJ, on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The powerboat races continue to be the centerpiece of the popular festival featuring four classes and two categories of adrenaline-pushing, sanctioned APBA racing.
Fast water, an established event, and the area’s unbeatable hospitality bring teams to RegattaFest from all over the United States, each one eager to claim a podium spot and add to their overall national points standings. Since the beginning, back in 1938, New Martinsville has been a well-known powerboat racing mecca for this part of the country, and this season will continue the 81-year tradition.
Mark your calendars, and make plans to join your families, friends, and neighbors for “Fast, Free Family Fun!” in downtown New Martinsville at Firemen’s Park on the banks of the Ohio River, Sept. 28-29. RegattaFest – a tradition of excellence combined with the spirit of innovation; it’s the formula that guarantees a good time for everyone.
