Middlebourne City Building Upgraded

By Staff | Nov 21, 2018

The former church bell tower has been removed; an accessibility ramp and deck have been installed, and trees have been cleared from behind Middlebourne’s city building, thanks to TMS Contracting. TMS Contracting also replaced interior lighting; there will even be office space rented out of the municipal building. The council members were very pleased with the work to the building and look forward to continue working with the contracting service.

In other news, there has been a total of $92,915.42 used on drawdowns for the town’s water project. Wolfe Construction has finished with the water line replacement, but the roads still need paved. They are to be paved before winter.

Council members agreed to provide a Christmas bonus for city employees. Council members also declared that the day after Thanksgiving will be considered a holiday from this year forward.

There is some water damage from the bell tower, which will need painted in the future, so council agreed to purchase the paint. Also, there will be a sump pump installed in the basement of the city building to remove water.

Middlebourne Water Department employee Shannon Long received his Class I certification, so he will be given a 50 cent raise.

The next Middlebourne Council meeting will be held on Dec. 10 beginning at 6 p.m. and located at the city building on Stealey Street in Middlebourne.
