Tyler County High School Alumni Associations Plans Homecoming

The Tyler County High School Alumni Association has selected Oct. 13 as the date for their 69th Annual Tyler County High School Homecoming. This year’s theme is “Treasured Times at TCHS.” Gloria Stackpole Walker, Class of 1968, will serve as banquet speaker.

Gloria Stackpole Walker, ABC, FRSA, is a 1968 graduate of Tyler County High School. She holds degrees in public relations and journalism from West Virginia University (BS) and The University of Texas at Austin (MA) and did post-graduate studies at the London School of Economics. Stackpole Walker has completed a foundation course in gemmology and was a member of the media team for the London 2012 Olympic Games. She is married and has two sons.

Stackpole Walker is a highly-experienced international consultant, researcher and academic based in London, England. Her consulting work has delivered results-based communications and public affairs projects for a range of clients in several business sectors in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa, including Shell and the UK’s Ministry of Defence. She is currently working on projects with the British Computing Society, South Africa’s Financial Services Board, and Quo Money, a fintech start-up.

Along with her consulting practice, Stackpole Walker has taught at universities in the US, UK and Thailand and is a member of the faculties of the London College of Communication and the Hult International Business School. Her current research interests include the effects of the adaptation of technology on rural development in Uganda and effective teaching methods for cross-cultural communication.

Stackpole Walker is an active member of several professional associations. She is in her third term on PRCA’s Council and sits on the board of IABC’s EMENA region. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Advancement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.


Tyler’s Oct. 13 alumni festivities will start with a breakfast buffet at the Middlebourne Fire Hall from 7-10 a.m. This is open to the public. Menu includes pancakes, sausage gravy, biscuits, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, mixed fruit salad, coffee and orange juice. The cost is $7 each.

The parade entries will meet at Middlebourne’s senior center at 10:15 am. The parade will start at 11 a.m. For more information contact Bill Henderson, 304-758-2342. While the parade is being lined up, traffic in and around the senior center, formerly Ellsworth Grade School, will be limited to parade entries only. Starting at 11 a.m. all traffic will be stopped on Main Street (Rt. 18) through Middlebourne during the parade.

The social hour starts off the evening at 4:30 p.m. in the gymnasium to be followed by the banquet at 5:30 p.m. Menu for the evening is baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, hot rolls, Texas sheet cake, coffee and iced tea. All tickets for the dinner will be sold in advance. Dinner reservations were needed by Friday, Oct. 5.

Class of 1946: Reunion will be United Methodist Friendship Center immediately after parade.

Class of 1993: Kathy Henderson Dalrymple can be reached at 304-771-6172. Class reunion will be Saturday at 1 p.m., Middlebourne Fire Department.

The class chairperson will be responsible to come to the gym before the function and reserve seating for classmates who have requested prepaid tickets.

The 2018 Tyler Consolidated scholarship recipients were Jesse Doak and Remington Miller.

The Alumni Golf Tournament was held, Saturday, Sept. 29 at Riverside Golf Course.
