Gloria Stackpole Walker Named Alumni Speaker

The Tyler County High School Alumni Association has announced Gloria Stackpole Walker, ABC, FRSA, as the 2018 Alumni Banquet speaker.

A 1968 graduate of Tyler County High School, Gloria Stackpole Walker holds degrees in public relations and journalism from West Virginia University (BS) and The University of Texas at Austin (MA) and did post-graduate studies at the London School of Economics. She has completed a foundation course in gemmology and was a member of the media team for the London 2012 Olympic Games. She is married and has two sons.

Gloria is a highly-experienced international consultant, researcher and academic based in London, England. Her consulting work has delivered results-based communications and public affairs projects for a range of clients in several business sectors in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa, including Shell and the UK’s Ministry of Defence. She is currently working on projects with the British Computing Society, South Africa’s Financial Services Board, and Quo Money, a fintech start-up.

Along with her consulting practice, she has taught at universities in the US, UK and Thailand and is a member of the faculties of the London College of Communication and the Hult International Business School. Her current research interests include the effects of the adaptation of technology on rural development in Uganda and effective teaching methods for cross-cultural communication.

Gloria is an active member of several professional associations. She is in her third term on PRCA’s Council and sits on the board of IABC’s EMENA region. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Advancement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.

The Tyler County High School Alumni Association is pleased to welcome Gloria as banquet speaker. The banquet will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13.
