Tyler County Prevention Coalition Sets Movie Night

By Staff | Jul 4, 2018

The Tyler County Prevention Coalition recently met to make plans for hosting a move night at Sistersville Park on July 27, beginning at 6 p.m. The coalition will provide free snacks, and admission is free as well. People are encouraged to visit the Tyler County Prevention Coalition Facebook page where they can vote on which movies they would like to see.

The Prevention Coalition promotes positive community norms throughout the community as a method for battling illicit substance abuse and underage drinking. The coalition feels the community can come together to fix these problems without the use of scare tactics. The coalition also encourages volunteers and church groups to get involved and help spread the word of prevention.

The coalition is asking for volunteers to help with the movie night, as well as organizing future events.

There will be need for theater setup and take down, parking and seating guides, making popcorn, running the projector, and handing out printed programs.

Organizations sponsoring the event are able to set up a table to promote community involvement. Interested organizations may send logos in support of the event to dhirschi@westbrookhealth.com.

They may also send family events to be advertised throughout the community.

The Coalition usually holds its meetings at 12:30 p.m. at Tyler Consolidated High School, but while the school is under renovations, the coalition will be meeting at 6 – p.m. located at the Thrasher Building next to Sistersville General Hospital on the fourth Thursday of each month.

Anyone with questions may contact Dean Hirschi at 304-494-8400.

The next Tyler County Prevention Coalition meeting will be held on July 26, 6 p.m. and located at the Thrasher building in Sistersville.
